My Song Memories

Number 19 and its accompanying memory

Probably my most liked "foreign" song, number 19 is Eres Tu. I believe it means something like You Are The One but not sure. This song will always remind me of the Philippines and all the wild and crazy good times I had over there. I first heard it when I was visiting the enlisted men's club at Clark Air Base. I don't know who the group was that was singing it, but I just loved the tune. Later, as club manager at our base, I hired a three piece band to play in our lounge. I kept asking them if they could add a female voice to the trio cause I wanted someone to sing Eres Tu. The very next week they showed up with a lady and she outsang the original version I fist heard. I was totally enraptured by this song, the lady singer, and the trio. On those occasions when I may have had a little too much to drink, I would have her sing the song numerous times, to the irritation of some of the lounge customers I suspect. The song just moves me inside. When she has to go up and sing the high parts, I am putty. Eres Tu, by Mocedades, is one of my most beloved songs.
