Number 38 and its accompanying memory
How can anyone sit still and listen to this song. I think it epitomizes what true Rock and Roll is all about. We all used to gather at Mickey Eagan's house sometimes and for some reason, this song was always playing. Here we were, a bunch of young guys trying to put forth our best to all these very pretty girls from the Vians club and more often than not, we came off looking like geeky teenages. Hey, we were geeky teenagers..lol. The girls would smile and giggle and we would continue with our goofy antics but it was all in fun and part of growing up. I don't know who used to play this song when we were there, but it was great. Little Richard was at the heighth of his career during those days. Nothing spectacular about the name of the song, Slippin' and a Slidin' but the thing just rocked. Ahh, those were such crazy, comfortable, easy going days. No responsibilities. Just play. It has always remained my favorite Little Richard song and always reminds me of Mickey, Linda, Fran, Pat, Connie, and all the other girls. Great ladies, all of them. Who said little Catholic girls were not nice? These were. But regretfully, time just kept Slippin and Sliding away in to the future. Still, great, great memories of the old gang.
