Number 9 and its accompanying memory
Although I think this song brings back memories of happy times in the Philippines, I realize as I write this that it is actually reminding me of lonely times more than happy. In the bars, the bar girls refer to all sailors as butterflies. They say the butterfly goes from one flower to another, pollenating each one in turn before moving on. They say sailors are the same way. If they call you a butterfly, it means you can not be true to one person. If any song reminds me of my days of "running the bars," this song does. I searched high and low to get a copy of this song and then came across my favorite singer today, Daniel O'Donnell's version, and there is no telling how many times I have played it and daydreamed at my computer since. The words are kind of cute too but just the melody evokes memories of times gone by. Younger days if you will. Some Butterflies just never learn.
